日前传奇乐手 Neil Young 在作客脱口秀「The Late show with David Letterman 」时透露，他将推出名为 Pono 的高保真音乐服务（Young 在数字时代还真是从来不落人后啊）。这项服务将由提供高音质音乐的在线商店、数码模拟转换技术以及 Pono 移动音乐播放器（上图中 David Letterman 手中的黄色物体，目前为原型机，未来将支持 Pono 服务提供的所有音乐）三部分组成。Young 希望通过 Pono 把大部份用户从低音质的 MP3 中「解救」出来，为其提供最纯粹的音乐，还原声音本来的「面貌」（不过到目前为止 Young 都没有透露会用什么方法来达成这一目标，所以想对技术有更深入了解的朋友就只能再等等咯）。

根据 Rolling Stone 的报道，三大唱片公司都已经对 Pono 表现出了兴趣。在 Young 的新书「Waging Heavy Peace」中他写到推出 Pono 是为了把唱片公司联合在一起「拯救音乐的声音（to save the sound of music）」。当谈到 Pono 播放器时 Young 表示它可以播放用户现有的音乐，但如果想要体验更完美音质的话就需要去 Pono 的音乐商店中购买高保真版本了。「你找不到比这更好的了，这就是录音室里出来的声音。」Young 这样说道。但对我们来说在真正用到这项服务之前是不会对其下一个定论的，而且在目前 Pono 还什么都没有公布的情况下，我们只希望它到时不要是一个只有名人效应的产品就好。
